O Neg blood donors are compatible with all

AB Pos

A Universal Recipient means that this kind of blood type is able to receive any
donation as they are all compatible with AB Positive.
AB Pos blood
is very much needed to be donated to those who have this blood type so the
others can be reserved for their corresponding blood group.
AB
positive blood is also needed for its’ plasma content. The plasma derived from
AB positive blood is compatible with all other patients’ blood types. Due
to this fact it is greatly needed, in cases of emergency where massive transfusions
are needed. Only 2.7% of the Maltese population have this blood type.

O Pos
An O Pos
blood donor can give blood to all Rh Positive blood patients, that is to O Pos;
A Pos; B Pos and AB Pos since this blood type does not have neither A nor B
antigen.
This blood
type is the second most common in Malta 38%, and if you are one, we really need
your help by becoming a blood donor.

B Pos
O Pos; O
Neg; B Pos and B Neg blood types can be given to a B Positive Patient as they
are compatible with it.
B Pos donor
is able to help both AB Pos and B Pos patients.

A Pos
A Pos is the
most common blood group in Malta 42% thus the most used. However, stocks
may run low since A Pos blood may be given to all A Pos and AB Pos
patients. The blood bank really needs
this blood type to be able to help those who need it without depleting the
stocks of the other blood groups that are compatible with this.
An A Pos
patient can receive blood from A Pos; A Neg; O Pos; O Neg blood types.
